Buffalo, NY: The Monster Energy Cup, held at the Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas this past weekend, proved to be a big night for Team Dunlop. The three-race event was won by Team Dunlop alumnus Eli Tomac on his factory Kawasaki, while the Super Mini class was swept by Team Dunlop Elite riders; winner, Stilez Robertson, Carson Mumford in second, and Aiden Tijero in third. The Amateur All Star class was also a Dunlop sweep; Cameron Macadoo took the overall followed by Team Dunlop alumni Challen Tennant and Garrett Marchbanks.
It looked like it was going to be Ken Roczen’s night. In his debut ride for American Honda, Roczen won the first of three motos, putting himself in contention to win the $1 million prize for any rider who could win all three races. He was headed for another victory in moto two when he crashed hard, somehow emerging unscathed. He would go on to win the third moto, but his DNF in the second race took him out of contention for the overall win. That, plus $100,000, went to Tomac. KTM teammates Ryan Dungey and Marvin Musquin finished second and third overall respectively, giving Dunlop a clean sweep of the podium.
