Adam Cianciarulo Wins Monster Energy Cup

Buffalo, NY: The Monster Energy Cup (MEC) annual event in Las Vegas is a three-moto format that awards the winner of all three races $1 million. Last year, it was Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac who swept the event and took home the big prize, so he was favored to do the same this year. Except that his new teammate, Adam Cianciarulo, had other ideas.

In his debut 450-class ride for the Kawasaki factory team, Cianciarulo pulled off a surprising win at the MEC this past weekend. Both he and Tomac had crashes that cost them race wins—and the $1 million grand prize—but in the end it was Cianciarulo who took the overall win with 2-2-1 race finishes, collecting $100,000 for his efforts.

Both Tomac and Cianciarulo were Team Dunlop Elite riders in their amateur racing days who have gone on to win national championships on Dunlop tires, as well as big events such as the MEC.
