Buffalo, NY: Dunlop is proud to extend its congratulations to Team Dunlop graduate Justin Barcia for winning his first-ever AMA 450 Supercross race at round two in Phoenix, AZ. Riding his Dunlop-tire-equipped Team Honda Muscle Milk CRF450R, Barcia put on a masterful display of racing, leading the pack from wire to wire in earning a decisive win. This was the first 450 Supercross class win by a Team Dunlop alumni. Icing on the cake came when Eli Tomac—another Team Dunlop alumni—won the 250 race in Phoenix, giving Team Dunlop graduates an historic Supercross sweep.
Since its founding in 2007, Team Dunlop has grown into one of the nation’s premier amateur rider-support programs, highlighting the ongoing achievements of its young but outstanding amateur motocross racers. Since moving from Team Dunlop into the pro ranks, Barcia has quickly earned a great deal of success aboard Dunlop tires, including two championships in the 250 Supercross class in 2011 and 2012.
“We thoroughly enjoy supporting the sport at the grass-roots level through our programs such as the Team Dunlop for young motocross racers,” said Mike Buckley, Dunlop Senior VP Sales/Marketing and R&D. “But when our alumni hit an especially high level of success, such as Justin just achieved at the Phoenix Supercross race, it’s great validation for our Team Dunlop program. We wish Justin and Eli and all of the former and present members of Team Dunlop much success during the 2013 season.”
